Brihadaranyaka-Upanishad 4.5:

You are what your deep, driving desire is.
As your desire is, so is your will.
As your will is, so is your deed.
As your deed is, so is your destiny.

What is psychology?

In the late 1990s, I think in 1997/98, I started to deal with psychology as a science. As I have already mentioned in some of my posts, the driving force was the behavior of others which did not resemble to my behavior or those of my friends or relations. I have dealt with this discipline intensively as I have possibly dealt with physics, Indian philosophy or computer science, where computer science is the only discipline where I have obtained an academic degree.

Psychology, which I define as a science of the mind, perhaps deviating from the official definition, has inspired me to work also parallel with neuroscience, which is a sub-discipline of medicine. I also continued to work on neuroscience later, when I came into touch with artificial intelligence during my studies at the University of Karlsruhe, where my focus, perspective and approach was different at that time.

Anyone who deals with psychology will sooner or later not get past by Sigmund Freud. I have noticed, and it also disturbed me at the same time that many of his theses linked the motive of an individual's behavior with sexuality, regardless of whether it is psychoanalysis or dream interpretation.
